My hobby is “sidewalk” astronomy - I set up my telescope where surprised passers by can catch a view of the Moon or a planet that will change forever the way they see the sky.
I’m also a lover of music, all types.
This flash mob performance of the great theme in Gustav Holst’s “Jupiter,” from “The Planets” was a moment when these interests met.
That majestic theme by Holst was later given a prayerful text by Michael Perry in “O God beyond All Praising,” which is sung in Christian churches year round, but especially during the Easter season.
O God beyond all praising, we worship you today
and sing the love amazing that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder at every gift you send,
at blessings without number and mercies without end:
We lift our hearts before you and wait upon your Word,
we honor and adore you, our great and mighty Lord.
