A Devotion for Children

Luke 1:26-38

Serving God

Every day, in some way, God speaks to us. If only it were as simple as an angel coming to visit and delivering a clear message from God. But instead, God speaks to us through other people like our parents, teachers, friends and the priest at Mass on Sunday. This is a bit more challenging for us because it means we have to pay attention when our lives are really busy with school, friends and playing sports. God wants us to serve Him and each other by acting like Jesus. Next time your mom asks you to wash the dishes or clean up your room, look upon it as God asking you to do a favor for someone to make her life a little easier that day.

 

Prayer

Dear Lord,

I know life is busy and it is hard to hear what You are trying to say to me. Please help me open my ears to hear you and do more to serve You.

Verse

38 "I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her."
