One of the main areas of concern for catechists is "classroom management." For most catechists we have a one hour weekly sessions for about 24 sessions throughout the year. Our challenge is to select one main idea and create a plan using a variety of of activities and strategies that will accomplish the understanding of that idea. To achieve this goal, it is essential that the catechist create a well-managed learning environment.
Our friends at edutopia have written Ten Tips for Classroom Managment.
"Learn how to improve student engagement and build a positive climate for learning and discipline for grades K-12.
"We've all heard this about students: "If they are engaged, they are managed." And this is absolutely the truth. But we still need rules, routines, trust, and student ownership to make a classroom run smoothly and effectively. This guide will address those practical aspects of managing a classroom, with suggestions and resources appropriate for grades K-12."
