Every December, Frank Capra’s, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” is broadcast on television over and over. This classic film tells the story of George Bailey, a middle aged man, who feels as if his life is passing him by. Due to some overwhelming financial troubles, he attempts suicide, claiming that it would have been better if he had never been born. In the nick of time his guardian angel saves him, and gives him the opportunity to glimpse how life without him would have been different. As we, the audience watch how things would have turned out without George Bailey, we also can’t help but wonder how they might have gone without us. Hopefully, we are able to conclude that the world is a better place for our having been born into it.
